这部剧场版动画以战争前夜为背景，描述住在小镇的三姐妹，其中的大姐苏菲是位制作帽子的专家，但她却因此得罪了女巫，从18岁的美少女变成了90岁的老太婆。她惊恐地逃出家里，但又进入了一座移动的城堡，她和不能与人相恋但懂魔法的哈尔，谱出了一段战地恋曲，并且和城堡里的其他人一起想办法解开身上的魔咒。

Howl's Moving Castle , which is directed by Miyazaki Hayao(宫崎骏) under the background of warfare,

is a magical loving story between Sufi（苏菲） and Hauru（哈尔） . Sofi, the oldest child at their home , is an ordinary girl who is good at making hats .While Hauru is an enchanter who can’t fall in love with human. Once Sofi was helped by Hauru by accidence , but Arechi no Majo（荒野女巫） misunderstood their relation and made Sofi become an old woman. Sofi was so scared that she escaped from her home and entered a moving castle with the help of Kakashi no Kabu（稻草人王子）. From that on, Sofi and Hauru began to live together and fell in love with each other step by step. At the same time ,all members in the castle tried their best to undo Sofi’s curse .
