爱是一盏灯English.txt 他和她结婚时家徒四壁，除了一处栖身之地外，连床都是借来的，更不用说其他的家具了。

然而她却倾尽所有买了一盏漂亮的灯挂在屋子正中。他问她为什么要花那么多钱买一盏奢侈

的灯。她笑笑说：“明亮的灯可以照出明亮的前程”他不以为然，笑她轻信一些无稽之谈。

When he married her, he was in abject poverty except a place to live in. Even the

bed was borrowed, let alone other furniture. Whereas, she bought a pretty lamp hanging

in the middle of the house. He asked her why she spent so much money on a luxury lamp.

She said with a smile on her face, "A bright lamp can bring you a bright future".

He disagreed and laughed off her absurd view.

渐渐地，日子过好了。两人搬到了新居，她却舍不得扔掉那一盏灯，小心用纸包好，收藏起

来。

Life was getting better as time went by, and they moved into a new house. But she

did not (如果这里不改, 意思是: 她很不情愿地把灯扔了)threw away the lamp and

carefully packed it up with paper.

不久，他辞职下海，在商场中搏杀一番后赢得千万财富。像许多有钱男人一样，他招了个漂

亮的女秘书，很快女秘书就成了他的情人。他开始以各种借口外出，后来干脆不作解释就夜

不归宿了；。妻子劝他，以各种方式挽留他，均无济于事。

Later, he quit his job and plunged into business. After a hard struggle, he got

thousands of fortune. Just like other rich men, he recruited a beautiful female

secretary who soon became his lover. He began to find various excuses for going out

and later even did not want to explain. However his wife tried to maintain their

relationship, it was in vain.

这一天是他的生日，妻子告诉他无论如何也要回家过生日。他答应着，却想起了漂亮情人的

要求。最后他决定先去情人处过生日后再回家过一次。

When his birthday came, his wife asked him to make sure to come back home to celebrate.

He promised verbally, but his mind was thinking of the date with his pretty outside

lover. Finally he decided to go to his lover's house for the birthday first and then

went back home to celebrate with his wife again.

情人的生日礼物是一条精致的领带。他随手放到一边。这东西他早已拥有太多。半夜时分他

才想想了妻子的叮嘱，急匆匆赶回家。

He got a delicate tie from his lover as a birthday gift. But he put it aside, for

he had already had so many things like that. Not until the midnight did he recall

his wife's words and hurried back home.

远远看见寂静黑暗的楼房里有一处明亮如白昼，他看出来正是自己的家。一种遥远而亲切的

感觉在心中升起。当初她就是这样夜夜亮着灯等他归来的。

From a long distance, he saw a bright house in a building in the quiet darkness. He recognized it was his home. At that time a long-gone but familiar feeling aroused in his heart. It was she who awaited for his returning every night with the light on as tonight.

推开门，她正泪流满面地坐在摆满丰盛晚餐的餐桌旁，没有丝毫倦意。见他归来，她不喜不怒，只说“菜凉了，我去再热一下”。

After pushing the door open, he saw her sitting at a dinner table which was full of various foods, tearful but tireless. Seeing him back, she just peacefully said, “The foods are cool now and I am going to heat them up again.

他没有制止她，因为他知道她的一片苦心。当一切准备就绪之后，她拿出一个纸盒送给他，是生日礼物。他打开，是一盏精致的灯。她流着泪说：“那时候家里穷，我买一盏灯是为了照亮你回家的路；现在我送你一盏灯是想告诉你，我希望你仍然是我心中的明灯，可以一直明亮到我生命的结束。

He did not stop her, because he understood her love towards him. When everything was ready, she took out a paper box for him as birthday present. It turned out to be a delicate lamp in the box. With tears in her eyes, she said, “when we were poor, I bought a lamp to illuminate the road for you to return home. At present, I buy you a lamp because I hope you are still in my heart the bright lamp illuminating throughout my life.

他终于动容，一个女人送一盏灯给自己的男人，应该包含着多少寄托与期盼！而他，愧对这盏灯的亮度。

He was tremendously moved eventually. How much trust and expectation should be hidden in the lamp which a woman gave to her husband! However, he felt he did not deserve her lamp. .

他最终回到了她的身边。因为他已明白这盏灯所发出的光，不管它能否照亮他的前程，但它一定能照亮一个男人回家的路。这盏灯所发出的光是一个女人从心底深处用一生的爱点烯的。

Ultimately he came back to her because he already understood whether the lamp could bring him a bright future, it surely could illuminate his way back home. The lamp was lit up by her lifelong love deep down her heart.

知人者智，自知者明。水至清则无鱼，人至察则无徒。
